Lauren Mary Kim, born on February 1, 1981, in Stockton, California, is an American stunt performer, martial artist, and actress. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a dancer, performing with the NBA's Sacramento Kings and later as a Laker Girl. An adult gymnastics class sparked her transition into stunt work, which she pursued during college, where she met stunt professionals who introduced her to martial arts.
Kim's martial arts training is extensive and diverse. She earned black belts in Taekwondo and Hapkido under Master Jun Chong. She further honed her skills in Wushu, training with Ming Qi, Ricky Jacobs, Tim Storms, and Ji Jing of the Beijing Wushu Team. At the Inosanto Academy, she studied Jeet Kune Do, Silat, Filipino Martial Arts, and Muay Thai under the guidance of Guru Dan Inosanto and Master Jeff Imada. Additionally, she trained in Capoeira at Fit Arts and stunt driving with Tom Harper.
Throughout her career, Kim has doubled for numerous actresses, including Elodie Yung as Elektra in Netflix's "Daredevil" and "The Defenders," Grace Park in "Hawaii Five-0," Jadyn Wong in "Scorpion," Michelle Rodriguez in "Furious 7," and Mercedes Varnado (Sasha Banks) as Koska Reeves in "The Mandalorian." Her motion capture work includes portraying Ahsoka Tano in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" Season 7 and contributing to video games like "The Last of Us Part II," "Mortal Kombat 11," and "Call of Duty: Black Ops III."
Beyond her on-screen work, Kim is dedicated to community service. She volunteers at children's hospitals, senior living facilities, and soup kitchens and supports children with disabilities through the organization KEEN.
